Securing Your Property
The first step in the recovery process is to protect your property from further damage and secure your personal belongings. 24 Fire will immediately assist you with board up, tarp (roof cover), and any necessary structural stabilization services to minimize additional damage from exposure to the elements.
The health and safety of all building occupants is paramount. Fire damaged buildings can be extremely dangerous. DO NOT enter the structure until it has been cleared by a public safety or building official.
Although the building may look safe, many unseen hazards may exist. Common hazards include, electrical, weakened floors/structure, debris, and breathing airborne particulates. In addition, the exterior of the building will often be scattered with debris such as glass, nails, and other sharps objects.
When entering a fire damaged property you should do so alongside a professional and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
